finding a Therapist

Finding the right therapist for you or your child can be challenging.  Here are some things to consider:

CONNECTION / GOOD FIT

It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist, as therapy is like any other relationship. Sometimes, you’ll click right away, and other times, it may take a little time. Trust your gut – if something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to keep searching until you find someone you connect with.

MODALITY / APPROACH

Every therapist has their own approach, whether it's psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, or another method. Are you looking for a specific type of therapy or approach that resonates with you?

LOGISTICS

Are you looking to meet in person or prefer telehealth sessions? Does a specific time of day work better for you? And, are you considering insurance or private pay options?

Our Therapists

Ashley Marx LCSW

For over 20 years, Ashley has worked with adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, self esteem, ADHD, and/or addiction. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and believes her job is to create a safe, non-judgmental place where you receive support and guidance to access more of yourself.

During her training, she worked in a halfway house for men struggling with alcohol and drug addiction and an outpatient clinic treating children, teens, and adults. After receiving her Masters in Social Work from Salem State College in Massachusetts in 2003, she continued to work in an outpatient clinic and a private school as a school counselor. She currently has a private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Clients may book in person or virtual appointments (Telehealth).

She has received training in various approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), but strongly believes that the therapist/client relationship remains the most important aspect of treatment.

For over 30 years, I have dedicated my life to helping children and teens, as well as supporting parents and caregivers through the ups and downs of life. I strongly believe that involving parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process is essential. They are a child’s greatest champions, and by working together, we can build a strong support network that will help each child flourish. I collaborate closely with parents (and schools, when relevant), ensuring that they feel empowered and equipped with effective strategies to nurture emotional well-being at home and school.

As an experienced therapist, I have witnessed the resilience and brilliance of young people countless times. A child’s potential is boundless, and I am dedicated to helping each child uncover their strengths, talents, and passions.

Motivational interviewing and Solution Focused Based Therapy and are tools I use to guide my practice and develop an action plan for success. Beyond my professional experience, I am a lifelong learner, constantly updating my knowledge and skills to provide you with the best care possible.

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker who believes that every person has the ability and inner strength to create a life worth living. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you’re free to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace.

I believe that healing and growth happen when we feel safe, seen, and supported. Using a person-centered approach, I prioritize your voice, autonomy, and inner wisdom. I also integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support skill-building in emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships.

My goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s difficulties, helping you reconnect with your resilience and uncover a path toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life.
